Cross Lake RCMP investigating after 16-year-old violently assaulted

On September 1, 2024, at 1:40 am, Cross Lake RCMP received a report of a possible stabbing that had occurred on the high school grounds located on Saggitawak Road in the community.

RCMP and EMS arrived on scene and located a 16-year-old male with significant life-altering injuries.

Information obtained by officers on scene from multiple witnesses reported that a group of youths were on the school grounds at the time when another group of males appeared. A physical altercation ensued, and the victim was severely injured.

The victim was transported to the Cross Lake Nursing Station and later life-flighted to Winnipeg where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical condition.

RCMP are asking anyone who may have information or may have witnessed this assault, and have yet to speak with officers, to contact the Cross Lake RCMP Detachment at 204-676-2600, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Cross Lake RCMP continue to investigate.
