Cross Lake RCMP investigate shooting and look for tips from the public

On June 25, 2024, at approximately 11:40 am, Cross Lake RCMP responded to a shooting that occurred at a residence on Pimicikamak Cree Nation.

The victim, a 29-year-old female, was taken to the nursing station and transported to Winnipeg with serious injuries.

The investigation has determined the female was shot inside her residence and the suspect fled.

Cross Lake RCMP along with Police Dog Services and the North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, have been in the community assisting by going door to door and conducting check stops, looking for the suspect and any information.

"There is no reason to believe the general public is at risk and RCMP do not believe this incident was a random event," said Staff Sergeant Jon Greer, Detachment Commander of Cross Lake RCMP. "Anyone with information is asked to please call RCMP at 204-676-2600, or Crimestoppers."
