On June 5, 2024, officers from the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CAD CRU) attended a property in Parkland County in order to locate and arrest a repeat offender with warrants.
RCMP obtained a warrant to enter the property and arrest the suspect. Upon approaching the property, RCMP observed the suspect brandishing a shot gun. When advised he was under arrest, the suspect threatened police and went in a stolen camper trailer still holding the firearm.
RCMP contained the scene and called in additional resources. Later, police observed the suspect fleeing the camper and running through a field. Police were able to subdue the suspect and arrest him.
A search warrant of the property was executed and police recovered:
- a loaded shotgun;
- two stolen vehicles;
- a stolen holiday trailer;
- a stolen flat deck trailer; and
- a stolen generator worth $70 0000.
RCMP have charged a 45-year-old individual, of no fixed address, with:
- Driving while prohibited
- Uttering threats
- Resist arrest
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x4)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (x2)
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Weapons offences (x4)
- Fraudulent concealment
- Fail to comply with release conditions (x9)
The individual was taken before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody with his next court date set for June 10, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg, Alta.
