One individual has been arrested, and a substantial amount of cocaine, methamphetamine and proceeds of crime has been seized by the Bow Island RCMP. Bow Island RCMP with the assistance of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit, made the drug seizures on Oct. 17, 2024, after four search warrants were conducted on a business, a residence and two vehicles in Bow Island.
A 73-year-old individual from Bow Island has been charged with a number of offences including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
The investigation began in September 2024 in response to community concerns related to drug trafficking in the Bow Island and County of Forty Mile region, Alta.
The 73-year-old individual was released from custody to await a scheduled court appearance on Jan. 8. 2025.
"The Bow Island RCMP is focused on community safety, and by arresting individuals involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs, it has prevented these harmful substances from hitting the streets. This arrest helps ensure Bow Island and the County of Forty Mile remain safe communities. Drug trafficking is extremely harmful, especially in small communities, that can jeopardize our neighbourhood's well-being and put innocent people at risk, this type of illegal activity will not be tolerated," said Sergeant Alan Rivard, Bow Island RCMP Detachment Commander.
