On March 30, 2023, the body of Tara Miller (37), a resident of Calgary, was located near Highway 522 and 128 Street near Okotoks, Alta. The cause of death was deemed to be a homicide, and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit were called in to investigate.
On Jan. 18, 2024, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, assisted by the Calgary Police Service and the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, arrested four people for the murder of Tara.
A 30-year-old individual, a resident of Calgary, has been charged with the following:
- First-degree Murder – Section 235 CC
- Aggravated Assault – Section 268 CC
- Using a firearm in an indictable offence – Section 85(1) CC
After a judicial interim release hearing, the 30-year-old individual, was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Jan. 22, 2024.
A 30-year-old individual, a resident of Calgary, has been charged with the following:
- Manslaughter – Section 236 CC
- Aggravated Assault – Section 268 CC
- Accessory after the fact – Section 240 CC
After a judicial interim release hearing, the 30-year-old individual, was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Feb. 1, 2024.
A 24-year-old individual, a resident of Wheatland County, Alta., has been charged with the following:
- Manslaughter – Section 236 CC
- Aggravated Assault – Section 268 CC
- Using a firearm in an indictable offence – Section 85(1) CC
After a judicial interim release hearing, the 24-year-old individual was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Jan. 25, 2024.
A 25-year-old individual, a resident of Calgary, has been charged with Manslaughter – Section 236 CC. After a judicial interim release hearing, the 25-year-old individual was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on January 26, 2024.
