48-year-old man charged following attempted armed robbery

A 48-year-old man from Miramichi, N.B., has been charged in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Doyles Brook, N.B.

On July 25, 2024, at approximately 5:20 p.m., an individual entered a business on Highway 118 in Doyles Brook, wearing a full-face mask, and carrying a weapon. The individual fled the scene on foot shortly after, and was unsuccessful in obtaining anything. No one was injured during the incident.

On July 26, the New Brunswick RCMP issued a news release with photos of the suspect requesting assistance from the public in identifying the individual.

Approximately two hours later, thanks to information from the public, the individual was identified as a 48-year-old man from Miramichi. He was arrested the same day by the Miramichi Police Force, and was then turned over to the RCMP.

On July 27, a charge of attempted robbery was laid against Ryan Wesley Rodregue in Miramichi Provincial Court. He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to appear in court on July 30.
