Update, April 29, 2024: On April 24, 2024, 37-year-old Rock Godin of Moncton, N.B., plead guilty to a total of 19 charges including:
-break and enter to commit an offence
-wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence
-trespassing at night
-possession of break-in tools
-theft of a vehicle
-theft under $5000
-possession of property obtained by crime
-mischief under $5000
He was sentenced to two years in prison in connection with this investigation.
A 37-year-old man from Moncton has been charged following a break, enter and trespassing at a residence on Worthington avenue in Moncton, N.B.
On February 4, at approximately 2:40 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter in progress. The suspect attempted to flee the scene, however, following a brief pursuit on foot, police safely arrested the 37-year-old man. Upon arrest, police recovered credit cards that were previously reported as stolen during a separate break and enter.
On February 5, Rock Godin appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand, and was charged with:
- Trespassing at night
- Possession of break-in tools
- Obstructing a police officer
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
- Possession of contraband tobacco
On February 7, he returned to court for a bail hearing. He was later remanded into custody and his next court appearance is February 13.
"This incident serves a reminder to always report suspicious behaviours or crimes in progress," says Staff Sergeant Jonathan White of the Codiac Regional RCMP. "The quick response by our officers prevented further illegal activity by this individual."
