18-year-old woman dies following single-vehicle crash

An 18-year-old woman from Miscou, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle crash in Petite-Rivière-de-l'île.

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 12:21 p.m., members of the Lamèque RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Highway 313 in Petite-Rivière-de-l'île. The driver and sole occupant of the ATV died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the ATV was travelling northbound at a low speed, lost control, and drove into the ditch on the shoulder of the road.

Members of the Lamèque Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy will be conducted to determine the woman's exact cause of death.
