Whitehorse RCMP confirms that police are involved in the investigation into practices regarding holds and isolation spaces at Jack Hulland Elementary School in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.
On Friday, November 19, 2021, at approximately 1:00pm, Whitehorse RCMP was made aware of these allegations and concerns. The Whitehorse RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) is leading the police investigation and working in partnership with Yukon Family and Children's Services (FCS). The goals for the investigation will be primarily to ensure student safety and to conduct a criminal investigation into these matters.
As this is an active investigation and investigators are gathering information, police are limited on the amount and type of detail that can be released at present. Further details may be made available to the public when appropriate.
