Antigonish District RCMP has arrested three males resulting from an assault where pepper spray was used on two victims. The incident occurred on March 24 on Notre Dame Ave., and the investigation has revealed that there was a verbal argument, which escalated into a physical assault, when two male victims were sprayed with pepper spray. Both victims were transported to hospital, and were treated and released for non life-threatening injuries.
Antigonish District RCMP was assisted by members of Cheticamp and Baddeck RCMP, and has arrested three people in relation to this incident:
- An 18-year-old male from St. Joseph-du-Moine, Inverness Co., facing a single charge of Assault,
- A 17-year-old male youth from Baddeck, facing a single charge of Assault,
- A 16-year-old male youth from Nyanza, Victoria Co., is facing two counts of Assault With a Weapon.
All of the individuals who were arrested have been released from custody and placed on strict conditions, and are scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court and Antigonish Youth Justice Court on June 27, 2018. Antigonish District RCMP is continuing to investigate this incident and is asking anyone who witnessed it to call them at 902 863-6500.
