Five drivers ticketed in 45 minutes for violating Move Over Law

November 17, 2017
Moncton, New Brunswick

News release

Earlier this month, five drivers in the Moncton area were ticketed for not adhering to the Move Over Law. Codiac Regional RCMP conducted the operation on November 10 and ticketed the five drivers during a 45-minute period. A similar operation in October resulted in six drivers being ticketed in an hour.

"If you see a police or fire vehicle or an ambulance with lights flashing on the side of the road, you must slow down and move over to the other lane when safe to do so and proceed with caution," says Sgt. André Pepin with the Codiac RCMP. "By giving that extra space and slowing down, you're helping keep the emergency responder safe along with everyone travelling the road. It's also the law."

The fine for not slowing down and moving over for an emergency vehicle is $292.50 and three demerit points. For more information, please visit http://ow.ly/upym30gDYZ9.
